Do you know WiseBuilding?
Today we want to share a little behind the scenes of WiseBuilding (Wise to our friends) and what we’ve been doing on building automation and management scene in Portugal.
In this interview, we’ll delve into the origins and vision of the company, exploring how we keep up to date in a sector that is constantly evolving. In addition, we’ll learn a little about the organisational culture, as well as the efforts we’ve made towards sustainability and energy efficiency.
Project
- How did WiseBuilding come about and how would you define the company’s vision?
WiseBuilding was born out of a desire to carry out automation projects linked to the buildings market and beyond, trying to bring innovative products with a price/quality ratio that adds value for the end customer and in which they feel that the ROI (Return on Investment) is assured.
- The IoT and industrial automation market is constantly evolving. How do you ensure that your services are always up to date?
We try to keep abreast of the latest trends, either by attending or visiting trade fairs related to the sector or by keeping in constant contact with our suppliers to find out what their vision is and what direction they are heading in. This has helped us make some decisions in favour of new ideas/solutions to adopt.
- What are the main benefits customers can expect from adopting WiseBuilding’s building management systems?
Our main focus is on adopting systems that are easy for customers to handle, and we don’t get ‘lost’ in very technical issues that, in the end, often only end up creating entropy in their use.
- Technical building management is a fundamental part of the services offered by WiseBuilding. How can this management contribute to the operational efficiency of buildings?
The truth is that, at the moment, the technical management market represents the lion’s share of our work. Considering that buildings account for approximately 40 per cent of the energy consumed in Europe, building automation systems can make a significant contribution in this context. Whether it’s by automating air conditioning or lighting systems within buildings, or by the insights that a technical management system is capable of providing, with the use of this type of technology we can really change the paradigm.
- We know that WiseBuilding works with a wide range of sectors, from commercial buildings to hospitals and industrial facilities, among others. How do you adapt your solutions to meet the specific needs of each client?
At WiseBuilding we make, as they say, “a bespoke suit”. We look at each project in a different way because, in fact, that’s what happens: no two projects are the same, there’s always one particularity or another, which leads us to approach each one in a unique way. And since we have different solutions in our portfolio, we also try to adapt in this way so that the end product is as good as possible.
- With the growing concern for sustainability and energy efficiency, how is WiseBuilding contributing to reducing energy consumption in buildings?
Sustainability and energy efficiency go far beyond buildings, and must above all become the way we lead our lives on a daily basis. At WiseBuilding, we try to implement the best solutions we can so that they really do help our clients achieve the goals they need to achieve in order to reduce primary energy consumption and increase the lifecycle of their equipment.
- Can you share with us any success stories in which WiseBuilding helped a client optimise their operations and achieve impressive results?
One of the projects we’ve done recently, which we’ve really enjoyed, was the renewal of the technical management system at the Hotel Solverde in Espinho. The client had an obsolete system for controlling the air conditioning system and by adopting a new system, our Wiseframework, together with new forms of control, the client was able to see a significant reduction in the work of the chillers, which in turn translated into major energy savings.
- How does the company collaborate with other organisations and partners to offer integrated solutions?
WiseBuilding has a very broad portfolio of solutions, which allows us to offer a wide range of solutions. We work with the main reference brands on the market, not only in centralised technical management, but also in home automation systems. We also have partners for the most varied areas, both in the installation and maintenance of technical systems.
- We understand that innovation is in WiseBuilding’s DNA. What future trends are you following and how are you preparing for future implementation?
The buzzword of the moment is digitalisation. We are witnessing a shift in people’s mindsets and, consequently, the buildings they occupy will have to keep up with this evolutionary trajectory. Artificial intelligence, we believe, will play a leading role in the very near future in the way we manage buildings and will bring great benefits to day-to-day operations. WiseBuilding is aware of this segment and is already working towards it.
Daily Life
- Do you have a funny or curious story to share about life in the company? Something that happened during a project or event that brought a smile to your face?
WiseBuilding was a company that was born in the middle of COVID, so some of our first jobs were during that phase. It’s funny today to think that, in the midst of the pandemic, three guys started a company without really knowing what was going to happen around us.
- Apart from work, what are some activities or initiatives that WiseBuilding promotes to create a relaxed and inspiring environment for its employees?
Throughout the year we try to organise activities that help bring the northern and southern teams together in a non-work environment, to strengthen the bonds between people, because life can’t just be about work.
- How do you encourage creativity and innovation within the company? Are there spaces or moments set aside to stimulate the generation of new ideas?
As the whole team is very young, we have always tried, from day one, to create a relaxed atmosphere so that people feel at ease and can take the initiative and debate ideas.
- Although WiseBuilding can still be considered a start-up, it has already earned an excellent reputation in the market. What are the company’s future plans for expanding its global presence and continuing to offer innovative solutions?
Our main focus is on being able to follow a path of growth, but one that is sustained with good partners by our side, and being able to continue to rely on the excellent team we have at the moment, so that in the end we can deliver projects with added value to our clients, because ultimately our clients’ good is our own.
- For young entrepreneurs who are starting their own companies, could you share a valuable tip based on your experience?
No matter how hard they say it’s going to be, don’t give up!
