Integrating Technology and Sustainability at the Hotel of Tomorrow
Imagine entering a hotel where every detail is centralised in a common console, from room temperature to corridor lighting, air circulation, water equipment control, energy management, presence detection, all meticulously managed to create a perfect experience and a huge saving in resources. That’s the invisible power of a Technical Building Management System in action. We’ve often discussed the technology and theory that support these complex systems, but rarely have we lifted the veil on the practical orchestrations we carry out, especially in the various industries we’re involved in: hospitality, industrial, school, residential, cultural, retail, services and maintenance. In this article we want to share some of the work we have done in hotel units that breathe efficiency and comfort thanks to the systems we have implemented, either directly or through the various partnerships we have formed.
Big City – Hoso Tower in Porto
The Hoso Tower, a student residence, rises in an urban area fragmented by the Inner Beltway. This project balances uniqueness with integration into the environment, using a circular form to optimise space and reduce the façade area. The common areas are located at the top and bottom, while the intermediate floors house housing modules, with centralised technical infrastructure and balconies that mitigate noise and sun exposure.
